Mexican Modern 75 is a unique property located in the historic La Ermita neighborhood of Merida. This spacious home has an open floor plan with many options for up to four bedrooms, each with its own unique full bathroom. Two of the bathrooms have Moroccan type soaking tubs, and the master bath opens to the backyard. The house has unique skylights and roof-top windows throughout the home that allow for airflow and light. A playful use of materials was used in the design – custom crafted metal/casement style kitchen cabinets, a minimalistic use of wood for the thresholds, distinctive pasta tiles in all of the bathrooms, large format glass doors throughout, and handcrafted wood framed mirrors placed thoughtfully throughout the home. The house comes furnished with everything you see.
The way the current owner has furnished the house, there are three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The kitchen has countertop seating and a dining area. There is a tv. room off the kitchen with a beautiful vaulted ceiling, and another large living room facing the garden, where you can enjoy the sound of the fountain and a view of the pool.
There’s a spacious square shaped backyard (not long and skinny like so many here) with a filtered swimming pool, and a laundry room/storage shed. A beautiful Koi pond with a fountain, mature tropical trees, and a garden bursting with creativity. If you like the idea of living in an old colonial city but not necessarily in a historic home, you may love this one.
Mexican Modern 75 is in the La Ermita Bario. Calle 75 is a low traffic block, with a small grocery store for the basics right across the street! A block from the home is the much photographed and recently restored Calle 64A. Cobblestone lined streets with a number of small shops interspersed amongst the homes including a gelato store, a few art galleries, and a bakery. The famous La Ermita Park, church and botanical garden is at the end of the block – a beautiful alternative to the typical busy centro parks. This is the main route for the famous Dia de los Muertos procession each year.
