A gorgeous and solid house in the Nacionalista style, which was popular across Mexico after the Colonial period. Some features of the style are the super tall ceilings and the more restrained style of the columns and doorways. This house is located in the centro historico of Merida, but is a free-standing house on a substantial lot, which means the air movement throughout the house is wonderful and constant. There are lovely garden and pool views through the old wooden windows and doors, and there are original pasta tile floors throughout the home.
Almost unheard of in the historic center is a large lap pool, and equally unheard of is the large garage and driveway, enough for many cars to park easily. The garden itself wraps around the house from behind the solid walls at the street, all the way around to the beautiful swimming pool area.
The distribution of the rooms gives everyone their privacy if desired, or the whole place can be opened for light and air everywhere.
This would be an indulgent private home as it is now, or it would easily lend itself to being a beautiful boutique hotel, as it’s located just steps from Merida’s hotel zone and the new convention center.
