Estudiolo is the latest fabulous creation by noted design authorities Robert Willson and David Serrano, who are Merida residents and also owned the well known Downtown, the amazing and eclectic Los Angeles decorative arts showroom where Mexican modernist furnishings stand cheek by jowl with fanciful rococo antiques. The architects were Workshop Architects.
For this latest project, Serrano and Willson continue to be proponents of doing things their way,. Eschewing the tropes of Spanish Colonial style, the couple orchestrated rooms of idiosyncratic international glamour, utilizing century-spanning furnishings that nod to the European influences in Mérida’s architecture.
Essentially a fabulous working studio space, this lends itself to being a pied a terre in the heart of the centro historico as well. Every part of the design was selected specifically with beauty, livability, and airflow in mind.
The Smeg appliances are included and much of the furniture can be purchased separately if so desired. A beautiful panoramic roof deck allows you to survey all of Merida at your feet, and all of the great venues of the city are a walk away.
